Who We Are & Our Story

The Superheroes Program is a dynamic leadership development initiative that connects high school students with elementary students to foster growth, mentorship, and leadership skills. High school “Heroes” serve as the heart of this impactful program, guiding and inspiring younger students while developing essential life skills themselves.

Each year, approximately 300 Titans participate in the Superheroes Program, engaging in a variety of activities that promote leadership, teamwork, and community spirit. We are proud to partner with Glenwood High School’s football team, girls’ basketball team, and Special Olympics, creating a well-rounded environment for growth and learning.

Founded in the spring of 2014 by GHS graduate Eli Day, his mother and teacher Crystal Day, and retired GIS teacher Pam Hogan, the program began as an initiative to create a space for boys similar to Girls on the Run. In the 2022-2023 academic year, the program expanded to include a girls’ component, furthering its mission of inclusivity and empowerment.

Celebrating its 10th year in 2024, the Superheroes Program has equipped hundreds of students with invaluable skills to tackle societal challenges. Through our unique curriculum, students learn essential leadership traits, including courage, self-confidence, self-discipline, respect, sportsmanship, a positive attitude, and the importance of community.
